Chuck [possibly] Done, Open Casting, and more...

WARNING
Dana White has "made it very clear to Chuck [Liddell]... unless he looks incredibly impressive -I mean, he's going to have to go out there and dazzle me, for me to want Chuck to still fight." Apparently the "Iceman" has failed to dazzle the boss-man in his most recent fights (1-3 in his last 4 outings). The President goes on to say, "it's not about money... Chuck is one of my good friends." Could it be though that Chuck is one of the highest paid fighters, and they don't want to fork it out if he's going to be sub-par? Probably, I wouldn't want to shell out half a million dollars for a blaze performance either. Rua and Liddell better come in shape and ready to bang, the boss man is salivating for a "dazzling" performance.

INKED
T.U.F. 9's finale is shaping up to be a decent card. Most recently Chris Lytle and Kevin Burns have agreed to face each other at the event.
Though months down the road, UFC 101 has added one more fight to the card. Thiago Tavares will meet Melvin Guillard at the Portland show, August 8th (date not confirmed).
UFC 100 will see Jon "spinning back-fist" Jones vs Jake O'Brien as well as Jonathan Goulet vs Don Hyun Kim face off at the milestone event.

SUSPENDED
Karo Parisyan has been suspended for 9 months after a positive drug test showed traces of "oxymorphone, hydromorphone and hydrocodone" in his system. "The Heat" was fined 40% of his purse from the Kim fight (=$32,000) and the result of the fight will be changed from a "Split Decision" to a "No Contest". The NSAC voted unanimously on the matter; also ruling that Karo must submit random drug tests during the course of his suspension.

GREASED, CONT., CONT. CONT.
The NSAC has been and will be quite busy this week. Today they hear the case of Penn v St-Pierre over what has been dubbed "Greasegate" by some. Keith Kizer (Exec. Dir.) recently spoke with MMAJunkie.com explaining, "I think we have everything we need to [reach a conclusion]. Both camps sent in voluminous documents. We have the video. It happened right in front of us." In addition to that the commission is giving Phis Nurse and Greg Jackson a chance to explain what took place and "decide what, if any, changes they want to make going forward with how Vaseline is handled in the corner."

There has been a noticeable change in how the corner's are and are not allowed to handle the fighters. The fighters now see their team, then the assigned cut-man then the ref before the enter the cage. Most commissions have become more strict in that the assigned cut man is the only person in the corner allowed to apply Vaseline or any other lubricant substance.

BOXING?
It seems K.J. Noons isn't the only pro fighter opting for boxing. Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia will make is pro-boxing debut May 30th against boxing vet Ray Mercer at Adrenaline 3. The event will take place at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort as part of the "hybrid-model" show put on by promoter Monte Cox. Though Cox and Adrenaline have a "deal" with HDNet, this event will not be broadcast on the network.

UPCOMING -MMA- MOVIE(S)
Is this real?
Never Back Down SURRENDER is a straight to DVD movie featuring some of the biggest names in MMA (GSP, Rampage, etc). It is written, produced and directed by Hector Echavarria; who also stars in the film. It's one of four to come out this year featuring many of the same fighters. I honestly don't know what to think of it... but it will definitely be on my Netflix. It's cheesy, it's action... oh yes, I'M IN! For those of you interested (or who have the same sick sense of humor) the DVD for Never Surrender will be released April 28th.
